10 February 2011 Dorking, UK based Johnston Sweepers has launched a quick mounting winter pack for its C400 midsize and CN101 sub compact sweepers.
The company said that its latest accessories offer the ideal solution to the problem of dealing with Britain's sporadic and troublesome snowfall.
Johnston claims that the winter equipment, which includes a snow plough for the C400 and a grit spreader and snow blade for the CN101, can be fitted in around twenty minutes at the first sign of snow, and removed just as quickly when normal sweeping duties are resumed.
The switchable functions mean that machines can double-up as sweepers or snow clearing vehicles without all the extra expense - and storage issues - of holding two separate units.
The C400 is available with a 3500mm Bunce snow plough to clear snow from narrow streets and pedestrian areas where access is limited. The lightweight plough has a clearing angle of 25 degrees to allow a clearing width of 2760mm, with a wear-resistant spring loaded high carbon steel wearing edge.
The unit is fully interchangeable with the C400's third front brush option, which extends the sweeping width of the machine, for even greater flexibility of applications.
The CN101 pack features a Zaugg 1500mm snow plough at the front, with an angle capability of 35 degrees and clearing width of 1230mm. The plough is hydraulically operated and includes hydraulic pressure control and rubber springs for safety.
At the rear of the sweeper a Lehner Polar 100E spreader unit can be fitted in just ten minutes by the operator. Holding 130kg of salt, the spreader can cover 13,000m2 between refills, or 8.7km at a spread width of 1.5m, allowing pavements and precinct areas to be made safe quickly and efficiently without the need for costly specialist equipment.
The company added that the packs can also be retro-fitted to both machines to maximise the multi-task versatility of existing sweeper fleets.
