30 November 2011Doosan Power Systems hopes to gain ground in the waste to energy market with the acquisition of a majority stake in AE&E Lentjes GmbH, formerly part of the AE&E Group.
Doosan, Lentjes delivers process and plant engineering, proprietary boiler and environmental technologies as well as components for thermal power generation and waste to energy plants.
The company holds a full range of Circulating Fluidised Bed (CFB) combustion boilers, Flue Gas Cleaning technologies for flue gas desulphurisation, alongside Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) DeNOx systems and technology for waste to energy facilities.
According to Doosan, coupled with its existing supercritical boiler technology, the addition of Lentjes' technology portfolio will allow it to become a major player in CFB and Air Pollution Control.
Jean-Michel Aubertin, CEO of Doosan Power Systems explained: "The combination of engineering competence, a skilled workforce and proven technologies will give us better access to new market segments like waste to energy and biomass plants."
Doosan said that it has been successfully collaborating with Lentjes on a number of projects in the past, such as supplying seawater flue gas desulphurisation for the 4x700 MWe Rabigh Power Plant 2 owned by Saudi Electric Company (SEC) in 2011.
Headquartered in Ratingen close to Dusseldorf, Germany, AE&E Lentjes will be renamed Doosan Lentjes and will be integrated into Doosan Power Systems' Boiler and Air Pollution Control business.
The current management team at Lentjes will continue to run the business.
