From a geographical perspective, Finland might not be the ideal place in which to start a successful company manufacturing waste and recyclable materials collection vehicles - but that hasn't stopped NTM (It stands for 'Narpes Tra & Metal') from designing and manufacturing an already successful range of compaction body and hopper units. But why does the word 'tra' which means 'wood' feature in the company title? Don't worry - that's easy to explain. When the company was set up fifty years ago, it was as a general manufacturer of trailers and other general purpose truck bodies, many of which used wood in their construction. Even today, NTM is known in the Nordic countries for it's high quality transport trailers.
But over the next 50 years, refuse collection bodies look set to dominate. Already the a market leader in neighbouring Sweden - and winning an increasing market share in other countries - NTM is now looking for partners in certain European and global markets to sell and support a growing range of waste industry products. Germany, the eastern European states and Russia head the list, but others are also being investigated.
Having been undergoing working trials in the environmentally-demanding Swedish market for the last few years, the latest production version of the four-compartment 'Quatro' compaction collection system is now on-track to become a premium 'flagship' model in a number of other markets.
Although requiring a special unique design of four-compartment
wheeled bin, the Quatro system enables all four waste factions to be picked-up simultaneously in one single lift.
NTM also manufactures single, twin/split and triple compartment RCVs, together with front end loading, side loading and special vacuum waste collection units. In addition, the rapid spread of 'dedicated foodwaste' collection services throughout europe, has recently resulted in the launch of a dedicated foodwaste collection unit from NTM - the 'Mini-Mas'.
