Appliance Recycling Centers of America, Inc. has announced that it has been selected by Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO), a division of NiSource Inc. to be the turnkey provider of refrigerator and freezer recycling services for the utility’s Appliance Recycling Program.
Through this program, participating utility customers who turn in functioning, but energy inefficient refrigerators and freezers will be eligible for a $35.00 incentive for each qualifying appliance, with a maximum of two units per year. ARCA will perform the in-home collection of qualifying refrigerators and freezers and properly recycle the units. Together, NIPSCO and ARCA will prevent more than 95% of the recyclable materials in the old units from entering the waste stream.
Edward R. (Jack) Cameron, ARCA’s President and Chief Executive Officer, said: “We are extremely pleased to have the opportunity to provide environmentally sound, turnkey appliance recycling services for NIPSCO in Northern Indiana. We are excited to support NIPSCO’s efforts to help customers protect the environment and reduce their energy consumption while receiving a $35.00 incentive for each appliance they recycle.”
