The British Metals Recycling Association (BMRA) has announced it will introduce binding health and safety pledges for its members in 2010.
Michael Wright, president of the Association explained that as a signatory of the Waste Industry Safety and Health (WISH) Charter, the BMRA had committed to reducing RIDDOR reported accidents by 10% year on year, for the next five years. It has also committed to reducing the number of days lost due to work-related injuries and ill health.
The announcement was made during the president’s address to BMRA members at the Association’s annual dinner, held in Birmingham in January 2010.
