| Korn Recycling's original facility was destroyed by
fire last year |
The German commercial waste recycling specialist, Korn Recycling GmbH is currently setting up what it claims is probably the world?s most modern waste processing facility in the south German town of Albstadt.
After a devastating fire last year, Korn has continued to back its concept of producing high-grade, quality-assured residue derived fuel RDF for the European energy sector and of making organic and metallic raw materials available to industry.
The facility prides itself on its high quality, advanced processing technology, and describes itself as the world?s most advanced facility in the area of commercial, bulky and construction site waste sorting.
In its efforts to rebuild, the company has selected the same contractors as it used in its original build. Cologne based Steinert is supplying most of the sorting technology, which includes magnet technology and sensor sorting systems like the precise X-ray sorting technology, while Altshausen based Stadler is responsible for the construction of the plant and is supplying the conveyor technology and the structural steelwork, along with its ballistic separators.
Korn Recycling said that it had chosen to procure the lion?s share of the sorting equipment from Steinert because of its capability to deliver not only the magnet technology, but also all of the sensor-based sorting systems. This it said gave Steinert a clear advantage, with the ability to match the interfaces of the individual and extremely diverse technologies.
With six overband magnetic separators, enhanced by a total of ten UniSort P NIR sorting systems, an ISS Induction Sorting System for two parallel product streams and two XSS X-ray Sorting Systems, Korn claims that its new facility can guarantee precise, high quality sorting.
Convinced by the construction of its first facility, Korn Recycling is once again entrusting the detailed planning, from the assembly to turnkey handover, to Altshausen based Stadler.
Family run Stadler is installing a number of its STT5000_101 ballistic separators for separating the main material stream. The stable and high-quality structural steelwork and is also supplying the conveyor technology.
