Germany - raising the stakes?

Waste Management World was the first magazine to spot the potential for the new Sennebogen 310 'Multi-Handler'. Our transport & plant correspondent, Malcolm Bates, was the first journalist to drive the pre-production prototype, giving readers a unique insight into this new concept. Now production machines are becoming available, so you'll shortly be able to try a demonstration of the 310 in your own waste handling and recycling operation.

Unveiled at Entsorga - alongside the also new 20 tonne machine weight '818' 360 materials handler - the production raised cab 310 telescopic handler, looks even better than the prototype, with more power, better driver vision and a number of other detail improvements.

The big question is this;- will this premium quality, multi-purpose machine be able to do the work of two existing machines? The key to this question is whether it will have the stability and lift to handle large waste containers with forks (or a simple top spreader), while at the same time, being fast enough - and strong enough - to power into stockpiled materials, as a normal wheeled loader would.

If the answer is 'yes', then operators with facilities where two existing machines are not fully utilised all shift long, might consider the safety bonus of a hydraulically-raised cab 'tele' with a ten tonne lift an absolute bargain. The fourwheel steer format and ability to place even small items of materials into corners of refuse bulk trailers while loading - in the full view of the operator - comes as standard and that is an advantage over 'highlift' wheeled artic loaders.

And so far, only the Sennebogen 310 - and smaller 305 - offer that hydraulically raised cab feature on a telehandler...
