ISWA takes lead on greenhouse gas emissions and waste management
ISWA’s internal task force (TF) dealing with greenhouse gases is assisted by the ISWA working groups and other experts.
After an initial work period with internal workshops, the TF became ready during spring 2009 to share its findings with a larger audience, and in early May a workshop was organized in Paris.
Later in 2009, as a prelude to the United Nations’ Climate Change Conference (COP15) in Copenhagen, ISWA and DAKOFA will organize a Waste & Climate Conference. The theme of the Conference will be to present how intelligent waste management plays an important role in the efforts to reduce climate change. Book the dates of 3–4 December 2009. ISWA returns to Serbia
By the end the year ISWA is returning to Serbia to organize ‘ISWA Beacon Conference: Strategic Waste Management Planning in South Eastern European, Middle East and Mediterranean Region.’ Organizers are ISWA, SeSWA (Serbian Solid Waste Management Association) and the Faculty of Technical Sciences (Department of Engineering, University of Novi Sad).
ISWA and the organizers will share experience on:
- Industrial waste management in SEE, Middle East and Mediterranean regions
- Municipal waste planning requirements, performance and market in SEE, Middle East and Mediterranean regions
- Waste management in transition: technologies, experiences, education.
The dates for the Conference are 10–12 December 2009 in Novi Sad (Serbia)
