WI Environmental, the Whidbey Island, Washington based heavy metals remediation specialist has signed an agreement with China's Shenzhen Waste Management Company, granting the company exclusive sales and distribution rights WI Environmental's trademarked XR-88 remediation product in China's south central Hunan Province.
The Shenzhen -based company will use the XR-88 system to clean up rivers and soil contaminated with heavy metals, poisons and hexavalent chromium. WI Environmental will produce XR-88 in the United States for export to China.
WI Environmental has spent the past six years proving its XR-88 product throughout China, completing more than 80 treatability studies and tests. It recently passed the Chinese National Standard for remediation of hexavalent chromium, removing twice as much of the toxic manufacturing byproduct as the Standard required.
A known carcinogen according to the Centers for Disease Control, hexavalent chromium can leach into rivers and soil from manufacturing and other industrial processes.
"To date, our XR-88 is the only product that has been proven to treat hexavalent chromium, along with poisons and heavy metals, turning them inert and benign," says Tim Wandell, President of WI Environmental. "We know our system can make an enormous difference and we very much look forward to working with our new partner and helping China and its people."
XR-88 recently passed a critical test in this country, showing it is not harmful to fish or aquatic life. Testing earlier this spring showed the efficacy of WI Environmental's XR-88 system in removing heavy metals, including copper, lead and zinc, from stormwater runoff and pressure wash water in samples taken from a Seattle boatyard.
